Las Vegas 2010
City Center & Aria
There is now a new casino/hotel/shopping complex calledCity Center with its own dedicated two-stop light rail transportation called "City Tram". Aria Resort and Casino, the one I had stayed in during this last trip, is a beautiful modern complex where you feel very comfortable and very well located in case you feel like exploring the other places around or go to other shows in town. Cirque du Soleil has its own “Viva Elvis” show in there and it’s a very good one. What they did with the original tracks is a touch of genius and the part of the show where they synchronize a live Elvis concert projected on the screen with the more or less live band of the show is guaranteed goosebumps, almost as He's playing live. Wow.
Must admit, nothing beats Vegas when it comes to having fun, and not necessarily the “Hangover” type one. There’s always something happening along the strip, once you haven’t been there for a few years, you’d be surprised to see how much it did change since your last visit. This being said, the volcano at The Mirage keeps attracting crowds, as do fountains at Bellagio and pirate show at Treasure Island. Musing flowing out of every single bar, casino, attraction etc. turns the whole experience into a very pleasant one. Great bits of classical music around the Venetian, gorgeous Ravel piece to go along with a very artistic night fountain show at Bellagio, while Elvis's Viva Las Vegas is a winner with one of the daylight fountain shows. Soundtrack accompanying the volcano while still the same old one is quite the perfect match.
There is now a new casino/hotel/shopping complex called
Haze nightclub on the lower level at Aria is another great fun playground worth enjoying during your stay. Among the other shows in town, Love, another Cirque du Soleil classic is worth seeing. What stands for both shows, while extremely enjoyable from a visually artistic standpoint, the spectacular side of a typical Cirque du Soleil show is not really that spectacular. Santana has a show at the Hard Rock Casino, but missed it since the only free evening for me has been Thursday when there's no Santana show. Still OK, something to look forward to for the next trip around ...
Along the Vegas Strip (aka Las Vegas boulevard)

Fremont Ave. - Old Vegas, still lots of fun
Once Love show by Cirque du Soleil was over decided to have a short cab ride to old Vegas together with a couple of workmates. We were in for a quite pleasant surprise (a first for myself) Fremont Ave. within old Vegas part of the sin city. Lots of unpretentious fun and great atmosphere with both hi-tech and live musical shows including graphics shown on the ceiling across the whole length of the old strip. There’s live shows too and it’s fun to see lights going on and off between casinos and ceiling projections, with an almost exclusively all-American crowd having lots of fun, including at the western end bar where they play great country music.
